Thankyou Jeannie and Mansi for sharing your different experiences and views about culture around beauty. Thankyou also to Felicity who gave a master class on poise, humility, courage in speaking up, wisdom, and such valuable insights. The future is looking bright with a fourteen year old who understands and advocates for what truly makes us beautiful and that our worthiness is inherent not skin deep. Well done and much appreciated.
Thank you, Melanie. We so appreciate your time and kindness. I was walking a little lighter after our conversation knowing that we can talk about hard things in front of a 14-year-old and trust that this openness is the beginning of change. Felicity is wise beyond her years and so inspiring.
I love how you called it a master class, Melanie. Your comments are a gift to me, always, because your generous spirit shines through every word. I'm grateful you're here and to be here with you.
What a great conversation this was Jeannie, Mansi and Felicity, and I was so impressed by Felicity’s perspective at age 14, knowing her own worth and that it is not tied up in how others’ (i.e., boys) view or judge her appearance—especially when they don’t want to ‘get to know me for who I really am.’ If we all such wisdom!
Amy, I was honestly astounded at what Felicity shared. We've had a lot of deep conversations these past two years, especially, but I didn't realize everything she'd been processing and internalizing until she voiced it on Friday!
Yes Mansi! I agree with you that Felicity should have her own substack and share whatever she feels like it helps build the kind of society we wish to enjoy 💕 i would gladly follow her page. It’s such a delight to listen her share pure wisdom and astounding to be honest- how much depth and incredible insight she has. What a wonderful soul she is 💝
My goodness my jaw just dropped to the floor! Felicity is such an incredible young woman and Jeannie you’ve got SO much to be proud of!! (I’m still in the middle of listening) I responded with my previous comment after having had listened to the beginning part of your delightful conversation (I watched some live but had to interrupt my viewing so) i’m so enjoying listening now 😍 I have no words!!
Shifra, I read all of your comments and have very sharing them with Felicity. It means so much that you took the time out of your day to listen and respond with such thoughtfulness.
Jeannie, you are such an inspiration. And thanks to the three of you for this incredible and important conversation. So honored to be here as a reader and listener. You enhance the kindness of this world immeasurably. <3
Stephanie, how kind of you to say. It's important to me that I use my voice for good, and to have found Mansi and gotten to know her as a friend has been such a privilege. I learn so much by just talking with her and hearing her perspective. Your reply here touched me deeply.
I wish I had been available, but this is our yearly folk music festival weekend and we are attending. All of us here are more counterculture than ever concerned about the beauty culture.
I appreciated this honest, thoughtful presentation on beauty culture. I loved that there was input from your very wise teenager, Mansi and her insight from a different culture, and you Jeannie, especially on the raising of your girls.
Mansi. We have a friend called Amanzi. Lurve your hair skills but my friend and hairdresser and clinical psychologist Dale Davis is the best hairdresser in the whole wide world lol 😂 💙💜
Ginny, Felicity and I have had side conversations about what you wrote here, and what Felicity has told me is that the influence of social media - particularly TikTok - is primarily why very young girls think they have to look a certain way and buy certain products.
Carol Ann, that’s our belief, too. We don’t allow our children to have social media, except for YouTube because we pay to block ads, and Felicity’s account is supervised, so she has to get permission to access certain content. But no way to TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
Great show. I'm amazed by Felocity's maturity. You are a great mother and model for your daughters.
I appreciate hearing that, Eddie. You are always such a gentle, kind, thoughtful presence, and I'm grateful to be connected to you!

It's hope, isn't it, friend?

This feels like such a breath of fresh air to listen to 😍 Thank you so much 🙏 @Mansi & @Jeannie

Isn't Felicity just absolutely amazing? I was blown away by her maturity and clarity.

Thank you for making the time for us, Stephanie, and for your kind words.
Yayyyyy
I would love a Felicity & Sarah, Sisters Substack!
A great idea, Kara!
She’s gorgeous!
Thanks, Laurie!

I'm curious to hear more about that, Nancy!

Thanks, Kathy! We will have another one. It's a deep conversation.
Such a great conversation, Kathy, and so much yet to explore. Thank you for your time.
Love this.
Yes, part two is in the works! We just need to schedule it.
Thanks so much, Anne. We'll have a part two!
Mansi, how did you escape an arranged marriage?
Oh that's a whole essay waiting to be written, Kathy!
Please write it, Mansi!

I was astounded when my 7 year old student told me she had gotten hilights in her hair. For the second time. Her cousin who I also
Worked with said she loved Xmas because she got everything on her list. I said what was on your list ? She, also 7, said skincare….

Yes when I mentioned it to their teachers they all were pointing the finger at TikTok. Fortunately I’ve never even looked at that app.
Neither have I. No intention to.
Tik tok is dangerous I believe as it challenges people to do unsafe and unhealthy activities….??
