The Book Club for Busy Readers

Hello, and welcome to The Book Club for Busy Readers. This group is open to any subscribers of I Grow Strong Again. Paid subscribers receive the added benefit of receiving 4-6 follow-up questions for reflection and journaling once the virtual gathering has concluded.

Basics of how this book club will function:

  1. All genres within fiction and non-fiction will be considered. A list of dates with corresponding titles and authors are available at the end of this post.

  2. Each meeting, unless otherwise noted, will run monthly via Zoom on the second Sunday from 2 to 3:30 PM Eastern time. I will send Zoom links the week before to all subscribers, both free and paid.

  3. I will facilitate. Occasionally, authors of books we are discussing may join our discussion and answer any questions or offer background stories about why they wrote these particular books.

  4. To participate, you can read all, some, or none of the monthly featured title. Since everyone is busy, I don’t want anyone to feel pressured to complete a book in order to show up for the conversation. You are welcome to join, even if you read nothing but are interested in the direction of discussion.

Ground rules for participation:

  1. Everyone’s voice matters. I want to create a safe space where each and every participant can contribute their insights and experiences without fear of judgment, interruption, criticism, or verbal attacks. This is vital to the health of this group, and should I notice any violation of this, I will privately speak to the offender and ask that they not return.

  2. Remember to omit your personal politics, religious beliefs, and other polarizing opinions out of the discussion.

  3. I may interrupt long-winded speakers, especially if another participant has been waiting to speak and has not yet had a turn to do so. Please don’t take offense to this; it is part of keeping group dynamics balanced and fair so that everyone has a chance to be heard.

  4. I value your feedback. If you felt personally attacked by another participant, I want you to privately message me so that we can figure out a way forward together. In addition, if you think something isn’t working well, or you’d like to suggest a new idea for the future, I am open to hearing your perspective.
